Internal Audit

By definition “Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organisation's operations.  It helps an organisation accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.”

The reality however can be something different.  It can be the guys who bayonet the survivors after the battle has been lost.  It can even be the automatons who descend with clip boards all too ready to put a big X in a report and, in so doing, to tell tales.

What makes us different is that we genuinely believe that internal audit should be here to help.  To misquote one of our favourite movies, we only scare 'cos we care!

We know that, as a service, it’s a tough sell.  We also know that it can be one of the strings attached by funders, other stakeholders, Board, Governing Bodies, etc.  Given that, why not get something that works for you and truly adds value.

We offer a range of services ranging from the fully outsourced service delivery that considers all aspects of your organisation, to delivery of one-off assignments to calm niggles in specific areas.  Irrespective of your requirements, all our assignments are delivered to professional body standards.  We are here to assure, alert and advise and do this by way of identifying areas for improvement and recommendations to exploit these.  We cover all areas from the strategic to the operational areas providing you with the comfort you seek.  We operate by challenging the default thinking, challenging your people to come up with improved ways to do what they currently do.  Additionally, our reports are not just a litany of systemic weaknesses or areas of non-compliance, we also tell you what’s working well and where efficiencies could be made by reduction in over control.

We have some 20 years’ experience in the public, private and not for profit sectors.  Each of these years has given us a learning experience that we are keen to apply for your benefit.  Our team includes a qualified IT auditor who can provide you with assurance of your in-house IT function and/or identify the assurances you should be gaining from any third party providers.  We are also experienced in auditing shared services (where accountabilities can become blurred), project management and preparedness for the emerging changes to Data Protection Legislation.
